GAM – Graz Architecture Magazine

Founded by the Faculty of Architecture of Graz University of Technology in 2004, GAM – Graz Architecture Magazine publishes essays, interviews, illustrations, book reviews and projects related to the fields of architecture and urbanism. It is conceived as an engaging interdisciplinary forum for scholars, architects, and critics in which architectural developments and controversial phenomena are discussed. Adding to current architectural discourse, the contributions of each issue are devoted to a specific theme that is chosen by a guest editor. All submissions to GAM undergo a blind peer review process by members of the editorial board as well as external reviewers specializing in a certain field relevant to the theme of the issue. GAM is published bilingually (German/English) and is distributed by JOVIS Verlag.

Publication Ethics

GAM – Graz Architecture Magazine places great value on the adherence to ethical publication standards by all those involved in the publication process, i.e. authors, publishers, (guest) editors, and peer reviewers. GAM follows the guidelines set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). A significant contribution to the assurance of scientific quality is the double-blind peer-review process, in which qualified, independent experts from respective areas of expertise and fields of research evaluate the contributions submitted for publication, checking the originality and novelty of the research findings, the use of understandable and stringent argumentation, the methodological approach, and the relevance and correctness of the sources and references used. Compliance with scientific quality criteria is ensured by the Author’s Guidelines. Additionally, GAM promotes young researchers by providing intensive support during the publication process and by familiarizing them with high-quality scientific work.

Open Access

To support a global exchange of knowledge within an academic research community, GAM makes available selected research articles and interviews as well as the editorials of all GAM issues as open-access publications. In addition, after registration, up to three articles are available to download as PDF files free of charge. Authors of published articles remain the copyright holders.
